Two New Case Law Databases Added to Oxford Reports on International Law

Oxford Reports on International Trade Law and Oxford Reports on International Law in EU Courts, are now available as part of the Law Library's subscription to Oxford Reports on International Law (ORIL)

Oxford Reports on International Law includes 7 case law modules:
  • International Criminal Law
  • International Human Rights Law
  • International Law in Domestic Courts
  • International Courts of General Jurisdiction
  • International Law in EU Courts
  • International Investment Claims
  • International Trade Law Decisions
The decisions in each of these modules is available in full text, and is further enhanced with headnotes, analytical commentary and analysis, lists of cases and instruments cited, and English translations of selected non-English decisions.  The advanced search option in ORIL allows users to search any combination of modules, and also offers a variety of other search options.

Summer & After Graduation Access to Bloomberg, Lexis & Westlaw

Access is available over the summer and for several months after graduation.  Certain requirements may apply (see below):

Bloomberg Law
  • Graduating Students:  unlimited, unrestricted access for 6 mos. after graduation.
  • Continuing Students:  unlimited, unrestricted access over the summer.
  • Note: access is automatic for both grads & continuing students, no need to do anything else!

WestlawNext
  • Graduating Students: by registering for the Westlaw Grad Elite Program students can extend their password and access WestlawNext for 6 months after graduation for the purposes of studying for the bar exam and preparing for practice.  Follow this link to register for the Grad Elite Program:  https://lawschool.westlaw.com/registration/gradelite.aspx
  • Continuing Students:  students can extend their passwords for summer access if they participate in one of these activities:
    • Summer law school classes and study abroad programs
    • Law review and journal - including write-on competitions

New Consumer Law Database

The National Consumer Law Center Digital Library provides access to 20 of NCLC's leading consumer law treatises covering the areas of debtor rights, deception and warranties, consumer litigation, and credit & banking.  The Digital Library also includes over 2,000 sample pleadings associated with the treatises.

Access is available for all library users in the Law Library.  Access outside the library and off-campus is available to University of Minnesota Law faculty, students and staff.  Be sure to checkout the Search & Site Use Tips for helpful search advice and more!

New ABA Periodicals Digital Collection Available on HeinOnline

Access the current issues, and an archive collection of over 100 American Bar Association periodical titles.  The collection includes 45 titles previously available to ABA members only.  In addition to popular titles such as the ABA Journal, and the Student Lawyer, the collection includes the full complement of ABA titles published by ABA groups (sections, divisions, forums, centers, commissions & committees).

Many of these titles focus on specific areas, topics and issues of law and legal practice and provide timely expert analysis, commentary and practical advice. The Law Library is happy to offer campus-wide access to this collection as well as off-campus access to affiliated members of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.
