Plaza Level Reading Room Closed

The Law Library's Plaza level reading room is closed for carpet replacement and renovations to Room 153 until Aug. 22 (date subject to change).

Please note the following:

• Books and other materials housed on the plaza level may be requested at the Circulation desk.
• Network printers are available on the 4th floor of the library and other locations in Mondale Hall.
• Lexis Law School printers located on the plaza level will not be available.
• The library's Reference and Circulation Desk remain open to assist patrons during their regular summer hours.
• Other floors of the library are open and available for study.

New Prestatehood Legal Materials Database

NOW AVAILABLE on HeinOnline!

This new database provides brief overviews of state histories from colonization to statehood and identifies a wide range of both readily available and hard-to-find materials from each state, and links to more than 1,500 full-text documents are provided. This is an invaluable and comprehensive tool for researchers. Unprecedented in its coverage of territorial government, this database holds resources that reveal the underlying legal principles that helped shape the United States. Research how foreign countries controlled the laws of these territories and how the states eventually broke away to govern themselves. The Law Library is launching a series of online videos meant to help prepare students for their summer positions. The first video of the series, which walks students through the steps of researching a new assignment, is available now. In the coming weeks, we will be publishing videos that break down keyword searching and describe free or low-cost online research resources.

This new HeinOnline collection brings together more than 500 titles dealing with this difficult and important topic. ASPIRE Program for Grads at Non-Profit Organizations

Graduating Students: you have access to Westlaw Edge and Practical Law, for six months after graduation. Your “Grad Elite” access gives you 60-hours of usage on these products per month to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills. While you cannot use it in situations where you are billing a client, Thomson Reuters encourages you to use these tools to build your knowledge of the law and prepare for your bar exam.

In addition, you have access to job searching databases on Westlaw Edge and TWEN for 18-months after graduation for 1 hour per month.

Continuing Students: you can use Westlaw Edge and Practical Law, over the summer for non-commercial research. You can turn to these resources to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills, but you cannot use them in situations where you are billing a client.
